FEIN Locate (Federal tax/Employer Identification Number).
Required: Business name and address, business owner's name, address, SSN, DOB. Returns the Federal Employer (Tax) Identification Number. This information is required for business asset searches.
Typical turn around: 3 business days.
Be aware of the following conditions:
1) A "NO HIT" is defined as: a FEIN is either confirmed to exist, or is believed by our researchers to exist, but either the provided information is incomplete, or incorrect, so we are unable; with the dasta provided, to extract that information from the IRS. In this case, we will "NO HIT" the request, and provide all the information retrieved from the IRS in our attempt. If; with that additional information, you are able to provide more accurate disclosure, we will accept the search request again.
2) However, if our efforts verify and confirm no such FEIN exists as requested, you will be charged the complete LOCATE fee, as this will take even more time and effort than successfully extracting the FEIN. Under those conditions, the subsequent asset search will, out of necessity, be cancelled.
It is EXTREMELY important that you provide as much information as possible for requests of this nature. Since the downsizing of many government departments and offices due to the COVID-19 pandemic and related problems, the time and effort required to obtain unknown information from the IRS (and many other government entities/departments), has escalated dramatically.
We have, traditionally, been able to find and confirm information missing from the basic information required for this search, but many of the states' Secretary of State's business databases don't track or disclose principal or information about the owner or officers, and if it's not provided with your original search request, you may be charged additional, unexpected charges in our efforts to succeed for you.
Just a closing note, the 'registered agent', unless that individual is also a principal of the company, is almost never the correct party and/or address for the business being requested. Please be diligent to help us provide the correct information to you at the advertised price.
(At times, businesses will file for, and be issued a state business license, but may never request or be issued a FEIN number from the IRS.)
